BACKGROUND

You may have seen from social media posts that the Pudding Run is going to stop running as a full charity event this year, and a local company “MUUK Adventures” (Home – MUUK) will be taking on this festive event.

Over the last 12 years, the event has raised nearly £42,000 for local and national charities including Broad Haven Playgroup, Greenacres Animal Rescue, PATCH, Bowel Cancer UK, Prostate Cymru, Belle’s Story, Surfers Against Sewage, The Friends of Broad Haven School, and The Paul Sartori foundation – amongst others.

This has been a really successful event, but has relied on goodwill and volunteers. MUUK Adventures are a professional events organiser and will be able to put the time into ensuring this is an ongoing well organised event, and will still be making a charity donation.

The Pudding Run team would like to extend a massive “thank you” for all your support with the Pudding Run over the years. The event has relied entirely on unpaid volunteers and business sponsors, and it is brilliant that it has become a regular fixture on people’s Christmas Calendar. We hope it continues long into the future and we will continue to share posts on the Broad Haven Xmas Pudding Run Facebook page.

COVID-19 CONSIDERATIONS

Based on the guidance available from the Welsh Government and the Event Licencing Welsh Athletics, UK Athletics and Run Britain, a series of Covid-19 modifications have been made to the event in 2022, compared with how the event has operated in the past. The following measures are advised for this years’ event

  1. Please do not attend the event if you are unwell or experiencing any of the symptoms of COVID-19 listed here
  2. Please sanitise your hands on entering the registration building and follow any signage/instructions given to you by event volunteers

PARKING

Please park only in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park car park on the right as you enter Broad Haven on the B4327 from Haverfordwest (signposted YHA) as this is where the YHA Field Study Centre is – where you will be registering. There is also a car park on Marine Road opposite the Galleon Inn. Please do not park on the road along the sea front or on residential roads.

TOILETS

Public toilets are available in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Car Park on Millmoor Way and there are also public toilets on Marine Road opposite the Galleon Inn.

RACE NUMBERS

Your race numbers will be given to you at registration, in your race envelope. Numbers must be worn on the FRONT during the run. They must not be folded and must be pinned in all four corners – please bring your own pins! (we will have some spares). You need to write your name, any medical condition(s) you may have, and an emergency contact number on the back of your race number. Race belts are allowed provided the number is visible to the front and is not folded.

GENERAL

Please note that all main junctions will be marshalled, but please be aware that marshals cannot stop traffic and the race is run on open roads so it is your responsibility to run safely. Anything deemed to be unsafe will be recorded by marshals and offenders will be put in the stocks and force-fed Christmas puddings. Unfortunately, the use of personal stereo equipment/headphones is not allowed for safety reasons. We will endeavour to make sure there is music on loudspeakers at points along the run to help keep spirits high.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

First aid cover will be available during the run, so in the unlikely event that you need medical attention please alert a race official who will act accordingly. If for any reason you decide to pull out of the race (this includes not starting the race after you have registered), you MUST report to an official at the finish, so that this can be recorded and we know that you are safe. Everyone who starts the race must be accounted for, so please avoid the cost and worry of a missing person search by reporting in. If you suffer from any medical condition (e.g. asthma) please write details on the back of your race number. This should help ensure you receive the correct treatment in the event of any emergency.

AFTER THE RUN

On finishing the race, you will be able to pick up your Xmas pudding and medal at the finish line and there will be water bottles available. Please also hand your running number in at the collection point to help with our recycling.

There will be spot prizes for “BEST DRESSED RUNNERS” who will be chosen by an impartial panel of experts! The prize for this will be sent out to the winner or given to the runner on the day if we can catch you!

SHOWERS

Please note: this year we are not providing showers after the run.
